Urban
With the average lifespan of a new building being measured in tens rather that hundreds of years and towns and cities rapidly expanding, architecture is changing faster than ever. Buildings change internally and externally as soon as they are occupied, vandalism, graffiti and litter add a human touch to what was once a pristine architect’s model. Nature adds a gradual evolution.
This project, photographed over four years from the year 2001 looks to addressing this. All images were shot on large format film giving the highest possible resolution. It is a vital part of this project that the minutest detail can be resolved to show even the smallest human intervention.
The first stage of this project was shot on 5x4 film. The final inkjet prints measure 90 x 75 cm and are in editions of 25.
In addition there are eight unique chromogenic prints mounted on aluminium .
The second stage was shot on 10x8 film. These inkjet prints measure 120x90 cm and are in editions of 25.
In addition there are some unique chromogenic prints mounted on aluminium measuring 120 x 150cm.
The third stage of this project is ongoing.
Seascapes
Living on both coasts of the English Channel gives a dual viewpoint of the same sea, where the position of the light is effectively reversed. The sea itself takes on different forms and colours. This is an ongoing project.
All these photographs are made using large format film.In most cases the tripod is in the water to get the camera as close as possible to the surface.Obviously total immersion will ruin both the camera and the film.
